The meanings of T5 and T6 states of aluminium sheetBack
The 6000 series aluminium sheets are aluminium-magnesium-silicon alloys, and their representative brands are 6061, 6063 and 6082 aluminum. Unlike the other seven aluminium panels, the state of the 6xxx-series aluminium plates is mainly T-state, and the most is T5 and T6. There is only one word difference. What is the difference between the two states?
Before explaining the difference between T5 and T6 states, you must first understand the following two noun explanations:
Aging: The process of eliminating internal stress in aluminum sheet metals.
Quenching: The metal is heated to a certain temperature and suddenly cooled to meet the required hardness. The strength of 2000, 6000 and 7000 series aluminium sheets can be increased by quenching treatment.
T5 state means that the temperature of aluminium sheet plate cut to size is rapidly lowered by air cooling after extrusion from the extruder to meet the required hardness requirements (Wechsler 8-12 hardness). T6 state refers to the instantaneous cooling of aluminium sheet by water cooling after extrusion from the extruder, which makes the aluminium sheet meet higher hardness requirements (Wechsler hardness 13.5 or more).
Air-cooled cooling takes a long time, usually 2-3 days, which we call natural aging, while water-cooled cooling takes a short time, which we call artificial aging. The main difference between T5 and T6 States is strength. The strength of T6 state is higher than that of T5 state, and other properties are similar. In terms of price, the price of T6 aluminum sheet per ton is higher than that of T5 aluminum sheet because of the difference of production process.
What is Eliminating Internal Stress
In the production process of aluminium sheet, because of heating and extrusion, the density between crystals is not uniform, and the energy can not be completely released, which is accumulated in the interior of aluminium sheet. This energy is called internal stress. The production process of some users (such as heating, bending, deep drawing, stretching, etc.) will release the internal stress of the aluminum plate, resulting in the bending, corrugation and unequal surface of the aluminum hot rolled plate, so it is necessary to release the internal stress of the aluminum plate first.
The process of eliminating internal stress is very simple. After the aluminium sheet goes down the assembly line, the aluminium product manufacturer will add a process. When the aluminium sheet is stretched by a machine, the energy inside the aluminium sheet can be released.
